Milan Crisis: The fault of the management, coach and players

The management, the coach and the players. A through analysis of AC Milan’s difficult moment and the responsibilities of each.

Everyone has responsibilities for the current situation. The management, the coach and even players. La Gazzetta dello Sport rightly spares no one while trying to analyze the difficult moment of AC Milan. Everyone, some more and some less, has contributed to creating this current situation. Starting obviously from the management, which however, highlights the newspaper, did not make a dream shopping campaign but not a bad one also.

SUMMER SIGNINGS

The problem, rather, is that those who govern AC Milan are perceived as a sort of abstract entity that works exclusively behind the scenes. The other night, for example, Paul and Gordon Singer were not at the stadium. And Ivan Gazidis is not a very media-friendly leader. The AC Milan CEO has little to do with the technical project as he takes care of other business. So it is above all Paolo Maldini, Zvonimir Boban and Frederic Massara who put their faces.

The same executives who conducted the last summer mercato with the burden of the Financial Fair Play. They prioritized the purchase of young players like Leao, Bennacer and Theo Hernandez but no big names. But beyond the UEFA’s eye, certain moves were convincing. Like the signing of Ante Rebic rather than the attacking midfielder Marco Giampolo expected the entire summer.

GIAMPAOLO’s CHOICES

And speaking of coach: there are two aspects that do not convince the club. The first is the extremely limited use of the new signings and the match with Inter gives reason to the Milanese management. Bennacer at the moment is Biglia’s backup, Duarte and Krunic have yet to make an appearances, Rebic has never started from the first minute just like Theo Hernandez. While the other is the insistence on a formation that is not producing the desired effects but is also penalizing several players. Giampaolo was chosen above all for the fact that his teams have always played attractive football but unfortunately, until now, his hand is not seen yet.

YOUNG AND INEXPERIENCED SQUAD

Finally the third problem, concludes La Gazzetta, is the lack of personality in a team that is probably too young. As Boban himself acknowledged, the signing of some experienced players would have been useful. In addition, this squad also lacks of bit of grit and determination. No one takes responsibility on the pitch, no one makes himself heard properly in the locker room. And therefore, the picture is completed.
